After Jesus died, some of his friends laid his body in a big tomb. They sealed it shut with a large round stone. Soldiers guarded the tomb. Three days later, the earth shook. An angel of the Lord came down from heaven and pushed the stone away from the tomb. Then the angel sat on the stone. When the soldiers saw the angel, they fell to the ground. Mary was walking to the tomb with some of her friends. They saw the angel, who said, “Do not be afraid. Jesus is not here. He has risen!” “Go and tell Peter and the other disciples that Jesus is alive!” On their way, the women saw Jesus. they fell to their knees and worshiped him. Jesus smiled and said, “Go tell the others that I will see them in Galilee.” So Mary ran to tell the disciples.

Prayers of the People (Response: God, in Your Mercy hear our prayers.)
Living God, rejoicing in this day of resurrection, we have come to celebrate the strength of your love— a love that triumphs even over death. We lift up our concerns and worries to you who have power and authority for all things in the universe. We ask your grace and mercy. Provide us your healing, peace, compassion, and justice. We need you and we need your help! Be with us again, reminding us that the journey to the cross does not end in death, but becomes a road of joy. Lift our hearts and our spirits to sing your praises in gratitude for all that you have done for us. Let the light of Jesus Christ shine on us, in us, and through us as witness to your eternal presence and love for us; for we ask this in his name. AMEN.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Prayer for Illumination
Leader: Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that, as the Scriptures are read and your Word proclaimed, we may hear with joy what you say to us today.
NT Lesson Acts 10:37-41
37 That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 39 We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; 40 but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear, 41 not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
This ends the NT Lesson.
Let us turn to the Gospel Lesson. Please stand, if able.
Gospel Lesson John 20:1-18
The Resurrection of Jesus
20 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3 Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. 4 The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7 and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10 Then the disciples returned to their homes.
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene
11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; 12 and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”; and she told them that he had said these things to her.
Leader: This is the word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.
Message Tell Others Rev. Jin Kook Kim
Happy Easter! We finished a Lenten journey and now enter the Easter Season this morning. I pray we find God’s love, grace, joy, and hope in our lives in the Easter Season.
For Mary, it was not a joyful morning for her yet at the beginning of today’s scripture. Mary and her friends came to the tomb to do a ritual on Jesus’ dead body. They loved Jesus and followed Jesus until he died on the cross. Even after Jesus died, they still wanted to say goodbye to him, putting oil on his dead body following their funeral tradition. Their hearts were heavy and full of sorrow and grief because they lost their beloved Jesus, who was a teacher, a healer, the son of God.
Mary walked to the tomb to see Jesus’ dead body, but she couldn’t find Jesus’ body when she came to the tomb. What she found was the opened door of the tomb, the linen wrappings, and the cloth. Those were not the proofs of Jesus’ death, although she saw he died on the cross with her eyes two days ago. Those were the proofs of Jesus’ resurrection, and she found the signs of Jesus’ resurrection. She anticipated seeing soldiers when she came to the tomb, but what she saw was two angels. She didn’t think that she heard anything at the tomb, but she heard from the angels, “He has been raised. He is not here.” She thought that she would see Jesus’ dead body but what she saw was Jesus, who was alive.
When she came to the tomb, she brought a troubled heart with her. It would be a heart of sorrow, sadness, and loneliness. She would lose her way and direction of life when she lost Jesus. However, when she saw the risen Jesus, everything changed. Her heavy and troubled heart changed a joyful heart. Her cry changed to her laugh. She found her way and direction again when she saw Jesus was alive. It would be like she had a new life again in Christ.
Dear Church Family,
I pray we find hope in the risen Jesus today and the Easter Season and every day. I pray that we have joy in our hearts through Jesus’ resurrection. I pray we have a new life in the risen Jesus. What makes us depressed or disappointed? What burdens of our lives make us be oppressed and not breathe? What makes us not see the light in the darkness of our lives? As everything changed for Mary when she saw Jesus, I pray that we put down all our burdens, negative feelings, difficulties before the risen Jesus and have joy, delight, peace, and healing in our hearts and lives, which Jesus gives us through Jesus’ resurrection this morning. I pray that we find hope and direction in life through Jesus’ resurrection this morning. I pray the Holy Spirit touches our hearts and lives and changes everything to God’s love and grace. I pray we see the signs of the risen Jesus everywhere in our lives.
Do you know what Mary did right after she met the risen Jesus? She ran to the disciples and said, “I have seen the Lord. He is risen. He is alive.” She told them about the risen Jesus with a joyful heart.
Again, I hope we gain hope, peace, healing, love, and joy from Jesus’ resurrection here and now as we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection today, Easter Sunday. I hope we find the new way and new life through the risen Jesus. So, our lives are full of joy and gratitude through Jesus’ resurrection. Also, I pray that we share the risen Jesus with others so that people have the joy that we have, the peace that we have, the hope that we have, and the healing that we have.
We usually share any good news with our family and friends. When we find a good restaurant, we tell others about it so that they can try it. When we find a good event or place to be, we tell others about it to consider being there too. When we find a good discount or product, we tell others about it to get theirs. It is a joy for us to say to others about something good. Sharing good news makes us and others happy.
Melissa helped many church members, including me, to get the covid-19 vaccine shot. When I say, “Thank you for helping church members and me,” she said that she couldn’t resist helping others when she found the available spots. She had good news that there were available spots, and it would be gone soon. She wanted to help church members to have a shot. Melissa was very active in sharing the good news with others. She let people know that there are available spots and took her a step more for the people. She helped people get the appointments and get confirmed. I believe that she did this because she loves the church family, and she knew that how much the vaccine is important for everyone in the Pandemic.
Little Falls Church family,
Now, we have Good news that Jesus is risen. Jesus died on the cross, and Jesus has been raised from the dead. Jesus’ resurrection is our joy and hope. Jesus’ resurrection will be other’s joy and hope when they know about the meaning of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Let us tell others about Jesus’ resurrection, as Mary told disciples about Jesus’ resurrection as a witness, as Mellissa shared the good news with church members. Let us tell others that Jesus is risen so that they have hope and joy in their lives through the risen Jesus. I hope we are active in sharing the Good News about the risen Jesus with others as Melissa did. I hope we do our best to help others to listen to the Good News and have Jesus’ resurrection in their lives as their hope and joy, as Melissa did her best to help church members get the shot.
Little Falls Church Family,
Jesus is risen. Our Savior, Christ, is risen. We have the Good news! Let us have joy and hope from it. Let us enjoy Jesus’ resurrection participating in the celebration of Easter. And Let’s share this wonderful and joyful news with others doing our best! Happy Easter, Church Family!

1. I serve a risen Savior
He's in the world today
I know that He is living
Whatever men may say

And just the time I need Him
He's always near
He lives He lives
Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
Along life's narrow way

You ask me how I know He lives
He lives within my heart
2. In all the world around me
I see His loving care
And though my heart grows weary
I never will despair
I know that He is leading
Through all the stormy blast
The day of His appearing
Will come at last
