Children’s Message Jesus Is the Best Ever
A long time ago, our friendship with God was broken because of all the wrong things people do. But God promised to send His Son, Jesus, to fix our friendship with Him. Jesus was perfect and never did anything wrong. Everywhere Jesus went, He was showing love to God and to others!
People were excited to see Jesus. One time, they waved palm branches as He rode into town and shouted, “Hosanna,” which means “Save us!” The people believed that Jesus had come to save them, so they celebrated Him like a king. Later that week, Jesus had one last dinner with His friends.
This was a special meal that God’s people had every year. They would eat and talk about how much God loved them. Jesus thanked God for the bread and gave them some to eat. Jesus also gave them something to drink. Then He told them that
whenever they eat this special meal each year, they should remember Him
and what He was about to do for them.
Meanwhile, there were some leaders in the city that were jealous of Jesus. They did not like how excited the people were to see Him. They wanted to put a stop to all that Jesus was doing, so they made a plan to have Jesus killed. The mean leaders arrested Jesus and made Him carry a heavy cross to the top of a hill. Then they nailed Jesus to the cross for everyone to see. Do you think this hurt or helped Jesus? This did hurt Jesus, but He did it for us because He loves us. You see, when Jesus died on the cross, He took the punishment for all the wrong things that you and I do. This seemed like the saddest, worst day ever, but God had a good plan!
When Jesus died, His body was put inside a tomb, and the tomb was closed up with a big, heavy stone. On Sunday, the ground began to shake, and an angel rolled the big stone away! That same morning, two of Jesus’ friends came to check on the tomb, but when they arrived, they saw the angel! The angel said, “Don’t be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus. But He is not here. He has come back to life!”
Friends! This is great news! Jesus died and came back to life to fix our friendship with God forever! And, because He did this for everyone, Jesus is the best ever!
Let me hear you say that after me!

Pausing for Silent Prayer and Confession
Prayers of the People (Response: God, in Your Mercy hear our prayers.)
All: Living God, rejoicing in this day of resurrection, we have come to celebrate the strength of your love— a love that triumphs even over death. We lift up our concerns and worries to you who have power and authority for all things in the universe. We ask your grace and mercy. Provide us your healing, peace, compassion, and justice. We need you and we need your help! Be with us again, reminding us that the journey to the cross does not end in death, but becomes a road of joy. Lift our hearts and our spirits to sing your praises in gratitude for all that you have done for us. Let the light of Jesus Christ shine on us, in us, and through us as witness to your eternal presence and love for us; for we ask this in his name. AMEN.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Called to the Word
Prayer for Illumination
Leader: Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that, as the Scriptures are read and your Word proclaimed, we may hear with joy what you say to us today.
NT Lesson Colossians 3:1-4
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Gospel Lesson John 20:11-18
11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. 13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. 15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”). 17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.
Message Are You Crying? Rev. Jin Kook Kim
How are you, everyone? How have you been last week? I pray that you and your family are well and safe. I am thinking of you and worry about you when I heard negative news from the media. Again, I hope you are well and safe in Christ, and please let me know if you need help from the church members or me. It is the fourth week that we have been practicing social distancing and self-quarantine in New Jersey. The pandemic has caused a lot of pain and suffering to many people already, and we are not sure how much it affects our lives more, although We hope that this situation ends soon and all people free from the pain and suffering. Some try not to hear the news anymore because it would discourage them, although the reality is still out there and here. How are you? Are your body, spirit, and soul safe in God? Are you ok, or are you depressed by reality? Are you trying to find fun things such as TV shows or social media? Are you trying to find beauty such as flowers and trees in Spring? Have you ever laughed last week? Or have you ever cried?
A woman, Mary, was crying because she lost her loved one, whose name was Jesus. Mary loved Jesus and followed him. Jesus was her teacher, who taught her along with others the Gospel of the kingdom. She saw how Jesus treated people with love, grace, and mercy. She followed her when Jesus came up to Calvary, taking his cross. She was there when Jesus was crucified on the cross. She saw how people humiliated him, how people hurt and tortured him, and how he died on the cross. Everything that she saw hurt her. Her heart was broken and wounded.
On the first day of Easter, she came to the tomb where Jesus' body was. With wounded heart and sorrow, she came to honor Jesus, bringing spices. And she found that the stone which was the door of the tomb was moved away from the tomb. Jesus's body was not there. She thought it was stolen. She came to the disciples to help her to find Jesus' body, but they couldn't help her. She tried to find Jesus' body again in the empty tomb, but she couldn't find it. Her world was fallen at that time as much as she loved Jesus and followed him. Her wounded heart was hurt again very deeply.
She was crying. There was nothing that she could do except crying. It was a miserable moment for her. Then, there was a voice, "Woman, why are you crying?" The voice was from angels, but she didn't know they were angels but just thought people. She said, "I don't know where Jesus' body is." She was crying, and she looked back and saw a man stood there, but she didn't realize that the man was Jesus. She was crying and heard another voice from the man, "Woman, why are you crying? Who are you looking for?" She still didn't recognize Jesus and thought he was a gardener, so she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."
At that moment, Jesus called her, "Mary!" When Jesus called her name, Mary recognized Jesus. When she heard her name as Jesus' voice, she could see Jesus who stood before her. She replied, "Rabboni," which means 'teacher.' The risen Jesus was there, and she finally met him again.
The risen Jesus was there with her when she was crying, although she didn't recognize him. The risen Jesus asked her, "woman, why are you crying?" when she was crying. The risen Jesus was there with her and wanted to care for her, although she never thought that Jesus was resurrected. Her world was not fallen; rather, she earned a new world through Jesus' resurrection, although she thought that she lost everything, and she couldn't find any hope.
Little Falls Church family,
How are you? Are you ok in the situation that we have faced? Are you hopeless or depressed for the reality? Are you hurt or crying because it affects your lives? I would like to share the good news with you: Jesus Christ is risen! Our Lord and Savior is risen! The risen Jesus is with us here and now. Are you still waiting for Jesus? We need no longer wait for Jesus to come. The risen Jesus is with you and me. Our names are called. Our Redeemer has come. Our savior is here and now!
Mary couldn't see Jesus because she only saw the empty tomb. The empty tomb was her reality, which was hopeless, powerless, sorrow, and hurt. The situation that Jesus' body was not in the tomb made her miserable because she didn't know God's wonderful plan of the resurrection of Jesus. She was crying, seeing the empty tomb, the empty place where Jesus' body was in. However, when Jesus called her name, Mary, she turned her eyes from the empty tomb to the risen Jesus. Finally, she saw the hope, the light, and life for her.
Little Falls Church Family,
We would see the situation that we face as Mary saw the empty tomb where there was Jesus. We would think that Jesus seems not to be here or not to work when we see what we face. However, let's see the risen Jesus instead of the situation. Let's see the risen Jesus rather than the empty tomb. Jesus is with us and stands before us. Jesus works now to care for us. Rather than seeing the empty tomb and carrying with deep sorrow, let us listen to Jesus' voice that calls our names, each name of us and see Jesus is here with us! I pray Jesus calls our names over and over again until we see Jesus and recognize Jesus, who is with us and cares for us!
We believe the resurrection of Jesus that shows us God's power over sin and death. We believe Jesus' resurrection that gives us the new life, the new hope, and the new light. Today, we together declare, "Jesus is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is risen today!" Let's praise God today and forever for Jesus' resurrection! Let's stop crying but realizing that God is always with us, despite all our uncertainties! Amen!

/Closing Hymn He Lives UMH 310
1. I serve a risen Savior
He's in the world today
I know that He is living
Whatever men may say
I see His hand of mercy
I hear His voice of cheer
And just the time I need Him
He's always near
He lives He lives
Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
Along life's narrow way
He lives He lives
Salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives
He lives within my heart
2. In all the world around me
I see His loving care
And though my heart grows weary
I never will despair
I know that He is leading
Through all the stormy blast
The day of His appearing
Will come at last
3. Rejoice rejoice O Christian
Lift up your voice and sing
To Jesus Christ the King
The Hope of all who seek Him
The Help of all who find
None other is so loving
So good and kind
/Benediction Rev. Jin Kook Kim
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.” Christ is with us in this place. Christ goes with us into the world. Be now in Peace! Christ is Risen! Amen!
